Peace IS Possible

When I bought this shirt, the clerk at the checkout counter said he didn’t know why anyone would buy this shirt, because he said *peace was impossible*.

But in my life I have found that peace is not only possible, but that it’s the catalyst for so much of the life we want.

In my experience, peace originates first and foremost from making intentional peace with oneself. Many people say we should be careful about judging others, and that’s true, But importantly, we must also be careful not to judge ourselves. We also hear people say to love others, and again that’s true. But importantly, we must also remember to love ourselves. The same is true for forgiveness, mercy, patience, charity, and so on. We find great peace when we also point all those great virtues toward ourselves as well.

So many times we go to war with ourselves from an early age. We think we should look better, perform better, and do better. We tell ourselves we should be further along in life than we are, or that we could have done better in life if it wasn’t for this person or that circumstance that tripped us up. We sometimes compare ourselves to others who have what we want, or who look how we wish we looked, and we often expect perfection from ourselves. We tell ourselves we are too fat or too skinny, or that we should have more money or success. These are all setup’s for inner turmoil, which are massive inhibitors of peace and life’s abundance.

I have found that life can feel and become so much more enjoyable when we start being kinder and more compassionate to ourselves first and foremost. When we make peace with ourselves it tends to overflow outward into peace with others. When enough people find that type of peace it can even bring world peace. A person at peace attracts many good life enhancing experiences. But a person at war with oneself cannot possibly be at peace.

To achieve peace, remember that we are each unique miracles who are loved beyond measure. Each of us is a unique being that has never been and will never be again. Each of us has unique inspirations and talents, and all of that goodness is meant to flow forth into this world to make life a better experience for everyone. When we plug into our flow of inspiration, we not only experience a peace that transcends understanding, but we can experience an abundant joy like never before.

So I wear this PEACE shirt because not only do I think peace is possible, but because I *know* it’s possible, not only for me, but for you too.

Peace, Eric
